

Tim Bolot
Managing Partner
Tim Bolot, a barrister and accountant, has over 18 years’ experience working with blue-chip and distressed companies.
Over the past seven years he has worked extensively as an executive (Chief Restructuring Officer ("CRO"), Chief Financial Officer ("CFO")) in troubled businesses to successfully drive and deliver large-scale turnaround programmes. He has worked with a wide range of stakeholders including PLC boards, banks, private equity sponsors, creditors and government departments.
He is an acknowledged leader in the healthcare sector, ranging from primary care to acute to care homes and is approached on many of the most difficult assignments in this sector.
Key recent assignments have included:
- CRO of Southern Cross PLC, the largest UK care home provider. In this role, over a 12 month period, agreed a 4 month standstill period with major creditors and oversaw the transition of 750 care homes to new operators and a disposal programme for freehold properties;
- Interim CRO/ CFO for a large distressed acute healthcare services provider with turnover of £500m and annual losses of £90m. Over a 12 month period oversaw the production and delivery of a £50m annual savings programme;
- CRO/ CFO for a surgical services unit that was losing £2m per annum on turnover of £50m. Over a 7-month period, Tim addressed an immediate liquidity crisis, led the renegotiation of key contracts and helped improve underlying profitability by £3m per annum through an exit of non-core activities and a focus on improving the mix of the underlying business;
- CRO at an industrial services firm that was losing £2m per annum of turnover of £8m. Through introduction of tighter business pricing controls and an organisational restructuring, profit was improved by £3m per annum.
Prior to founding Bolt Partners LLP in 2005, Tim worked for Alvarez & Marsal (the US based restructuring firm), Accenture and Arthur Anderson. Key clients include: Tyco Fire & Security, Levi Strauss Europe and Unilever.
Tim has an MBA (with distinction) from Northwestern University (Kellogg) in the United States and has a Bcom/ LLB (hons) (University of Auckland). He is an ACA (ICAEW), a barrister and solicitor (New Zealand).

Jonathan Knight
Partner
Jonathan Knight is an experienced management consultant and programme manager, with proven expertise in strategy, analytics and implementation across private and public sector organisations. He has worked with health organisations across the UK and abroad, delivering significant financial and operational improvement through specialty and functional reviews.
Jonathan has extensive experience of delivering across multiple aspects of strategy consulting including:
- Company (hospital) and operating unit (specialty) strategy
- Mergers and acquisition: planning and implementation
- Performance analysis
- Service, product and property portfolio analysis and strategy
- Sales and marketing strategy
- Strategy into action (implementation planning and large-scale programme management)
Key clients include multi-national commercial companies (Unilever, Inbev, BP, House of Fraser and Danone), public sector organisations (Department of Health, The MHRA, and a wide range of NHS Trusts) and investors in healthcare (ranging from £5m to £500m). International assignments also include recent work for a major trauma hospital in Australia, looking at surgical specialty performance and strategy.
Typical projects involve leading a mixed team of consulting and client staff through a fact-based analysis of the situation, using this fact-base to identify key challenges and opportunities, and developing an implementation plan to ensure that the strategy devised is actually realised.
Jonathan also leads on Bolt Partners' informatics and software development, including developing some of Bolt Partners' industry-leading analysis into software solutions.
Prior to joining Bolt Partners, Jonathan worked at Accenture in the Strategy practice where he led strategy projects for a wide variety of blue chip clients, taught Excel analytical techniques in London and Chicago, and headed up the development of their interactive dashboard products.
Jonathan has a BA in Biological Sciences from Magdalen College, Oxford.
